Hero’s Journey Stages 1-4

The first stage of the Hero’s Journey is the ordinary world. This is the introduction to the reader about your character. It is the foundation of your story. An example of the ordinary world is from a movie that i saw hangover where they start of going to Las Vegas and that is where the story begins.

The second stage of the Hero’s journey is the call to the adventure. It makes clear the hero’s goal.  It is when they are being moved from their ordinary world. Make your reader wonder what will happen. You have to keep it interesting until the reader finds out the answer or the end of the story.  An example of the call to the adventure in the hangover is when the main characters  lose their friend and they have to go out of the ordinary world to go find him.

The third stage of the Hero’s Journey is the refusal of the call is mainly about fear about failure and fear about something they don’t know. A hero can refuse the call by not knowing what they are or refuse to be what they are going to be later on. An example is a book I read called cirque du freak where the main character does not know that he is the chosen one and he refuses to go because he does not know what that is and he was scared to get out of the place he is use to.

The fourth stage of the Hero’s Journey is the mentor . This is when the hero gets a call for action and he refuses the call but he needs the tool for success and he needs somebody to give them confidence and that person is the mentor. He or she is usually a very wise person. The role is temporary and they will go their separate ways later on. An example is in the book cirque du freak. Where Dave didn’t think he was anything special and his mentor a vampire makes him realize how important he is and that he is the chosen one

The 12th Stage Of The Hero’s Journey

An example of the 12th stage of the hero’s journey is a book i read called Cirque Du Freak. After leaving his home to go fight evil he comes back and he realizes that the whole place is taken over by his enemy. Before he left it was all fine but after he came back he had learned a lot about himself and the world.

Another example of the 12th stage is in the movie the hangover. When he left to go to las vegas he was ruled and his wife told him everything to do and he had no rights at all. After coming back he stood up for himself and he changed it and he took over.

The Hero’s Journey Stage II- The Resurrection

When the hero experiences a ressurection or rebirth it means a form of shedding of what he was. he transits he who was in the past by facing this he will be who he was in the world and can only return to his old world.

The Character often is considered the plot of the story because his development into a more mature person is paramount to the lives of the others.

In the cirque du freak books the main character never wanted to leave home and after almost dying he was reborn and he was more aware of himself and the others.

In the movie The hangover One of the guys got lost for days on the roof and after that he was a changed man because he was reborn and he was more aware of himself and his friends.

The Hero’s Journey Stage 10- The Road Back

If the hero has to get to his goal he has to go to the road back. After this he will get his goal and he will  find love or celebrate. Then he has to dedicate himself to this. He might be called a liar and might never get appreciated. Maybe the village has a deadly something that is killing the people and he is the only one that has a cure. He might be in a healthy run with evil close by.

In the movie the 6th sense a guy who he had helped earlier had came back to him and he had to go back and help his child because he felt like he messed that guy up and he felt like he didnt help him so he went back to help his son and he made sure that he didnt mess up this time.

Another example is the book cirque du freak. He had to go back and save the people where he lived from the demons that were attacking. He learned that the demons were going back to kill all of the people in his village so he went back to save them.

Hero Journey- Stage 8- The Ordeal

The symbolic death and rebirth of the hero is the means to creat a dividing point in the sotry, on one side the hero is wandering around cluless to what eh will have to do, and on the other everything is obvious and clear.

1. An example of this is in a book called cirque du freak. When the main character had to go and fight the demons and that was a fear he had and he had to man up and face them.

2. Another example i have is in the movie The Titanic when Jack was tied up and she had to free him. That changed both of them.

3. In the movie Hellboy, Hellboy inner demon is brought out by his purpose of creation. to unlock the door to Armageddon,  his symbolic death is represented by his will to resist the demon and defeat the people who tried to enslave him.

The ultimate purpose for the Hero to go through Trail and Tribulation is quest. he learns new lessons. Might fill the role of the mentor if the mentor has parted ways with the mentor. The enemies often control the hero’s foreign domain. The forces are against the hero because they might be his rival. They might be in competition with the hero. An   example of the hero’s journey stage 6 is a book I read where the main character had to  go to the new world and had to go through the trail and tribulation.
